          'The founder of Solo Press, Luschei will award the newly created Glenna Luschei Distinguished Poet Award to Viola Weinberg, Sacramento's first poet laureate. Weinberg, who will also receive $1,000, was instrumental in the campaign to create California's official state poet laureate position, Sullivan said. 

           "We look at service to poetry, to the greater good of the community as an important aspect," he explained. Although formal criteria have yet to be established, he said future awards will honor "poet(s) of stature who (have) stood the test of time."
