These occult redondillas were discovered by baroque scholar Enrique Martinez Lopez in 1968. As Enrique’s student and with the guidance of foremost Sor Juana scholar, Sara Poot-Herrera, I undertook a translation of Sor Juana’s Enigmas. Here, in our newest artist book, I offer the first appearance of these twenty poems in English translation.
These Enigmas appear in Spanish and English, with a text face of 12 point Bodoni book, handset in metal type and printed letterpress onto Arches text laid cream. There are a limited fifty signed copies in the edition.
